Packing smartly can help you save valuable time (and money) during your airport experience. Follow these essential guidelines and additional tips to ensure a hassle-free journey.
To enhance baggage services for all passengers at DXB, new baggage regulations have been implemented. It is required that bags have at least one flat surface. If you plan to carry liquids, aerosols, or gels in your hand luggage, here’s what you should know:
- Pack these items inside a clear, resealable plastic bag within your hand luggage.
- Each item must not exceed 100ml, and the total volume should not exceed one liter.
- Exceptions are made for essential medication, baby milk/foods, and special dietary requirements to be used during your trip. For international travel, generally two pieces of baggage are allowed with a maximum weight of 32kg. However, this may vary depending on the airline and fare type. It is advisable to check with your airline prior to your flight. Baggage that exceeds the dimensions of 90cm in length, 75cm in height, and 60cm in width, or does not have a flat surface, must be checked in at the oversized baggage counter. Please allocate extra time for the check-in process of oversized baggage. In case of excess baggage, it must be repacked, and additional fees may apply. Recent policy changes grant the General Department of Airport Security (GDAS) the authority to open bags, without the presence of the passenger, in order to identify and remove highly suspicious items. GDAS is not liable for any associated damage caused during this process.
Here are some general tips:
- Pack personal belongings in your hand luggage.
- Keep your laptop easily accessible as it needs to be placed separately in a security tray during the scanning process.
- Remember to remove old baggage tags as they can cause the baggage system to reject the bag.
- Avoid using cardboard boxes as they require manual processing and are less durable.
- Don’t forget to purchase travel insurance
